Trans Europa Day 57 – Montpellier to Valras-Plage – 86km

Montpellier was a very interesting town and last night’s meal of clapassade d’agneau is supposed to be a specialty of the area. It was quite delicious.

After a short convoy out of town, we were soon cycling through the marshy area along the coast passing by lots of horses and being pestered again by the mistral..

The terrain was mostly flat but the annoying headwind slowed us down considerably. Lucky it would be a short riding day.

We passed through some quaint towns, some with street art, and stopped for refreshments. Lunch of watermelon – just for a change – and made camp by early afternoon where it was a struggle to pitch the tent with the mistral blowing non stop. Dinner of chicken legs with rice and lentils and into the tent to weather the winds.
