Gourmet Piedmont 2015 - Alba Loop to Barbaresco | Friday, May 1 - 44km

Day Three – Alba Loop to Barbaresco
Distance: 44km Total Ascent: 650m
Towns: Guarene, Priocca, Costigliole d’Asti, Neive, Barbaresco - Long Course: Govone, Isola d’Asti, Montegrosso
Activities: Visit to the “Cantina dei Produttori” winery and Hazelnut Cake tasting in the evening
A memorable ride through the famous Barbaresco hills. We are privileged to visit the Cantina del Produttori and learn their story, as well as taste one of the best wines in the world.

The day started with the largest cappuccino I have ever seen!

After breakfast, I hopped in the van for the first 15km (which were quite steep) but managed to ride the rest of the day for around 30km including some hills!
First stop was at the tiny town of Treiso (see my blog Surprise in Treiso). Then to Mango for coffee and finally in to Barbaresco. Being the May Day holiday, not much was happening but there was an International Vespa Meeting which meant we had to take a different route in to town.

The activity for us was wine tasting at the Produttori del Barbaresco.

We decided to skip lunch and cycled back to Alba where the Alba Vinum is in full force. I opted for my first gelato on tour - pistachio strawberry and coconut. No point spoiling my appetite for dinner..

Dinner was at  Osteria dell' Arco and the menu is below.

Cristiano had the three antipasti

I enjoyed:
Primi - Gnocchi with asparagus.
Secondi - Duck steak with baked vegetables.
Dolce - Chocolate and hazelnut mousse.

Tonight's wine was a Pelaverga

The youngest customer enjoyed his meal too!
