Day Four – Alba to Acqui Terme
Distance: 62km Total Ascent: 750m
Towns: Neive, Agliano Terme, Nizza Monferrato - Long Course: Mombaruzzo, Cassine
Activities: Thermal baths and fresh pasta making demonstration
Today we leave the Langhe region and ride to Acqui, famous for the sweet brachetto wines, riding through the rolling vineyard covered hills. A chance to enjoy the thermal baths, a guided tour of town and a fresh pasta demo, Italian style.
I enjoyed the last breakfast in Alba with a half cappuccino but in the same soup bowl!
Cristiano suggested I van to the top of the hill which was at a little town called Manera. We waited with the locals at the cafe for Christine and Mal to arrive.

I started riding from Manera and, apart from a 2km van jump up the next big hill, I cycled 48.5km for the day, including some hills! There was some nice scenery to our lunch stop.

We stopped for lunch at a classy new Agriturismo Casa Bianca Dimora Di Langa wher we had a fabulous lunch. I had pasta followed by hazelnut cake washed down with a splash of Moscato while the others had salad and cheese with a Dolceetto red. All the wines and cheeses are made at the property. Young chef Lorenzo worked front of house and kitchen.

After lunch we walked across the road the farm where Lorenzo's mum gave us a tour.

With bellies full we got back on the bikes for the 20km ride into our home for 3 nights at Acqui Terme. We had to walk around some road that was washed away 3 years ago and is still not repaired.
We checked in at Grand Hotel Nuove Terrme which is quite large and grand and, after a strenuous (for me) day in the saddle I showered and took a nap until dinner time. We met in the lobby at the usual time of 730pm and walked over to La Loggia Restaurant for our meal highlighted by a 1997 Barolo which was quite a nice drop!

Tonight's menu for me:
Primo - Ravioloni with swiss chard and ricotta.
Secondo - Cut of veal with zucchini side.
Dolce - Semifreddo with nougat.
