All Roads Lead to Rome - Day 2

We trained out to Anguillara for today's Ceri - Cerveteri adventure.

The bicycles had been trucked to the station and we set off in convoy for a pleasant country ride until the major climb to our lunch spot at Trattoria la Rocca where we enjoyed a typical Italian lunch of antipasti, choice of pasta and cake with red wine for those drinking, which seems to be most :)

The weather has been great and the group is very relaxed. So much so that Bruno, our guide, stopped the convoy after lunch to remind us that we needed to pay attention to the cycling! A handy warning ahead of hills and traffic. The car drivers held up behind a herd of cycling cats on hills were remarkably patient.

Our next stop was at the Necropoli della Banditaccia di Cerveteri, an ancient Etruscan burial site, where we were treated to a 3D presentation and then wandered around checking out the excavated tombs. Here is an interesting link with UNESCO description

Back on the bikes for the last ride of the day to the station and, as the sun set, we pulled into Rome Termini and walked to our hotel arriving just after 7pm. I think everyone had a very enjoyable day.
