IsraelRide Day 7 - Ketura to Eilat

Well, another IsraelRide done and dusted. Team Australia has had representatives on the Ride each year from 2006 and raised over $175,000 in that time for The Arava Institute.

The last day of this year's ride started as the sun rose in Ketura and we bussed up to Shizafon Junction to bike through "rolling hills" before the glorious descent into Eilat. After yesterday's 100km effort, it was a tough but enjoyable day in reasonably comfortable weather although there were headwinds at times.

We are now in Eilat cleaning up and prparing for tonight's dinner and closing ceremony.

Thanks to all my donors for their continuing support of my bike rides and fund raising efforts. Stay tuned for news of next year's rides!!

IsraelRide Day 6 - Mitzpe Ramon to Ketura

What a perfect day! Great weather, tail wind and the spectacular descent into and ride through the Makhtesh Ramon.

This is my seventh IsraelRide and this particular day of the Ride has always had something to offer. In May, the heat and hills have been unbearable but in November the journey is a little easier. Today's tailwind made the 100km journey quite enjoyable and we are now at Kibbutz Ketura, the home of the Arava Institute.

IsraelRide Day 5 - Shabbat at Mitzpe Ramon

A great day to catch up on some sleep, eat well, capture the street art, facilitate an Arava Alumni circle with Riders and see out shabbat with havdallah at the overlook to the Makhtesh. Back on the bike tomorrow..

IsraelRide Day 4 - Yeruham to Mitzpe Ramon

After an early rise, we were on the bus at 5.15 for a 5.30 departure to Yeruham in the Negev. I managed to nap a little and wake in time to see we were in the desert!

We started riding around 9.30 and reached Sde Boker after about 45km for lunch. I have travelled this road before and decided to take the tour of the Water Institute and National Solar Energy Center at Ben Gurion University rather than ride on in the heat to Mitzpeh Ramon.

I enjoyed the tour and the bus ride into Mitzpeh Ramon where we are resting over Shabbat. This is my seventh time at the Ramon Inn and the food is always great, Shabbat Shalom!
