14 September 2019 - 22 October 2019

We came up with a cunning plan to cycle from Agropoli to Amalfi, spend a few hours there, and then catch the ferry to Salerno and train to Pompeii. It worked a treat and we managed the few smaller climbs and avoided the climb up to Ravello and beyond!

First stop was after 6km at Paestum which is the site of ancient Greek ruins. Then on beside the pine forest and agricultural areas to our coffee stop in Salerno where I suggested to P:eter the Weeper that we would be fine and he should move ahead to sweep the main riders.

The winding roads along the Amalfi Coast proved challenging with buses, cars and vans competing for space and we road carefully, managing to avoid collisions, in to the town of Amalfi at which point the bikes were walked not ridden.

After a pleasant lunch and gelati, we boarded the ferry to Salerno and then the train to Pompeii where we have a rest day coming up.

All in all, an enjoyable and picturesque day!
