The
price of La Dolce Vita is Le Diarrhoea which struck during the night leaving
the stomach quite uneasy this morning. Nevertheless, we set out in convoy from
Cannes with the prospect of 1300 metres of climbing for the day.
The sun
continued to beat down on The French Riviera as we passed through some lesser
towns. The further west from Cannes, the lesser the towns.
I called
it a day at lunch at around 60km and vanned in to camp. After finding a shady
spot at International Camping for the tent, I biked down to the little village of
Aups where the Wednesday market was closing down. A snack and a drink and back
up to camp for a rest.
Fortunately, my stomach had settled down and I was able
to eat and retain Miles’ excellent dinner of North African sausages on a bed of
bulgur grain and finely chopped vegetables.
As it
turned out, Cristiano had the elevations for today and tomorrow mixed up so there
was only about 400m of climbing today. Tomorrow should be fun… more Aups than
downs..
