It
started pouring at around 4am and it was still raining when it was time to
decamp.
I really
do not enjoy packing up a wet tent but c’est la vie! Although it was wet, the
riding was a lot more comfortable than under a strong sun and I decided to ride
today with Daniel who was quite happy to lead the way with me providing back up
navigation.Heading away from the coast and into Provence, the scenery and topography changed.
The rain
had virtually stopped by lunch at around 60km so off with the rain jacket and on with the sunglasses. Although the rain had stopped, we managed to cycle downhill
through a swarm of little insects and got covered in dead black bugs! We found
a nice cake shop in a little village and partook of the local fare.
Camping
tonight at Nostradamus Camp. Salon-de-Provence is where Nostradamus lived in his later life and there is apparently a museum there which was not directly on the route so not visited. He probably predicted that a group of cyclists would be coming through and ignoring him.. Nostradamus
I discovered today that riding in wet shorts creates new saddle sores not unlike a chinese burn...
Dinner of spaghetti sort of bolognese and
birthday cake was arranged at the Camp restaurant to celebrate the eve of Jan’s 30th
birthday. Although there were some late afternoon showers it remained dry throughout the night as did I :)
