Adios Santiago! After
breakfast we had a short bus trip to the outskirts of town on the road to
Bacanoa where we mounted our bikes.
The weather was warm even
at 930am but we made steady progress on rolling hills. We passed by Granjita Siboney
where Fidel plotted the first attack and continued past the Pre Historic Park.
There were a couple of steep hills and I had enough at 27km and bussed the next
8km to the “picnic lunch” spot which was a hotel by the beach. I picked the ham
out of my roll and had a cheese roll and peach nectar.
After half an hour "free time” Herbert and Ramon continued by bike to our hotel for the next 2 nights. Nice surprise – all inclusive with a nice pool and bars. I managed to find a lounge among the many Canadians here and sunbaked/dipped in the pool for an hour or so.
Buffet dinner had enough to interest me – chicken soup, pressed chicken, roast potatoes, papaya, cake and ice cream! Plus a roaming sight impaired guitarist/singer.
