Day Five – Acqui loop to Nizza Monferrato
Distance: 46km Total Ascent: 650m
Activities: Family lunch and wine tasting with local wine producer Chiappone.
We'll ride in the Barbera area to Nizza Monferrato where we'll have a very special lunch with the Famiglia Chiappone. If the weather permits, we can help with the harvesting of the Barbera grapes.  It will be a very memorable day!

I wandered down through the impressive lobby for a light breakfast as lunch would be "memorable".

I started off by bike and rode about 4km before vanning up the hill.

 

I was in and out of the van to lunch and cycled about 19km for the day. None of us cycled after lunch for reasons which will become apparent! Cristiano was very excited as we arrived at Erede di Chiappone Armando in Nizza Monferrato. Watch the video on the link to get a feel for the place (even though it's in Italian!)

 

After a tour of the winery, we adjourned for lunch.

The pictures are worth many words. Suffice to say we tried every wine they make and no one was in a fit state to cycle the last 16km back to the hotel...
