All roads do lead to Rome! Cycle Southern Italy, Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily 14 September 2019 - 22 October 2019 |
Saturday 12 October 2019
We are on the coast these days so the rides are "relatively flat" although there are some climbs..
The pattern now is to ride to lunch and take the van from there to the hotel. It works well, especially for the TDA sweep who can enjoy lunch and take the van until, if at all, another rider is spotted. That happens, if at all, pretty close to the hotel. Did around 61km today to lunch where I left Edna and cycled on in search for gelato which I found! I then kept cycling to about 75km when I spotted the van in my mirror and pulled over for a lift to the hotel :)
There were some sea views but fairly unspectacular riding.
Today's dinner was at a restaurant above the beach in the little town of Longobardi, population 2300, where Saturday night brought the whole town out to two restaurants, the park and the bar at Hotel Gaudio where internet was unconnectable..
The restaurant specialty is seafood which found its way into each course. I skipped profiteroles for dessert..
