Cuba Havana En Vivo Salsa Tour 2014 - Playas del Este | Wednesday, March 12

After breakfast and a 90 minutes dancing lesson in the morning we leave for the east of Havana and after a 30 minutes trip, we reach tropical beaches located in this area. With more than 10km of white sandy beaches you can relax and swim in the crystal-clear waters for the rest of the day. The evening is again at leisure. (breakfast) - Trip Notes

The usual routine. Buffet breakfast then the 9am bus to Sprachcaffe where Lady and Jaimi sat in waiting. My dancing is improving but still having problems with some of the steps. A new one added on today but Lady is reserving judgement!

Rather than go to the beach as offered in the Trip Notes, Stephan and I caught a cab to the Capitolio then walked across to the ferry terminal to cross over to Regla. A young man, Ernesto Beneli, noticed my ten commandments around my neck and asked if I was Jewish. His Jewish grandparents came from Turkey but his father married out. We had an interesting discussion about Jews in Cuba, Israel and life in Cuba and when we disembarked he insisted on buying us a beer before going on his way!

I had thought about going on to the Jewish cemetery but Ernesto said it was about a 12km bus ride and my camera battery was almost flat. So we wandered into the church for a look see.

We then walked the main street searching for a mural I had read about but could not find except on the internet:

We headed back on the ferry and had some good views of Havana Vieja.

Then back to the hotel in a taxi driven by Novak Djokovic’s doppelganger.

I headed to the pizza shop for a late lunch/ early dinner of spaghetti and ice cream at around 3pm.

After a nap and watching the ongoing saga of the search for the missing Malaysian plane, I went for a walk across the road for a bottle of water and some more pics of the elephants!
