Cuba Caribbean Flair - Cuba on 2 Wheels 2014 - Niquero - Santiago de Cuba | Wednesday, March 19 - 15km

After breakfast you will continue the cycling tours with a 70 kilometre trip from Niquero to Palma Soriano before reaching Santiago de Cuba, where Cuba’s passion and African heritage are most evident. A tour of Santiago de Cuba is included in today's Cuba itinerary. The city known as the secret capital by many of Cuba’s fans. You will have a lunch picnic en route. The evening will be free for you to do as you like; a suggestion might be to check out some live music in the Casa de la Trova. Accommodation at Hotel Villa Gaviota. (incl. breakfast, lunch/picnic) - Trip Notes

The sugar plant worked all night and the noise was so loud it was difficult to sleep.

This says it all...

Needless to say I was in a very bad mood today especially when we spent 3 hours in the bus backtracking through Manzanillo and Bayamo en route to Santiago. We stopped about 70km out and ate a sandwich before heading off by bike. It was hot and I was tired so I called it a day after 15km and rode the bus.

Jordan had to take the bus to the Depot to see if they could fix a problem with a wheel strut which had been damaged on a bumpy road yesterday so we had a quick bus tour of Santiago before heading to the hotel.

I showered, did my laundry and checked my emails in the cafe which has one computer. Around 645 we rode in to town to meet Herbert’s wife Yli in the town square where there was live music. We then walked to dinner at a private restaurant. Very nice grilled lobster.

We took the bus back to the hotel with news that there will be no cycling tomorrow as the bus is going back to the depot.
