Doug and Mike set up lunch and we had only the crows for company until the peloton arrived followed by the rest over the next 90 minutes.
Dara opted not to ride and, as the truck did not drop Doug's bike off, he hopped on Dara's bike for the ride from lunch.
Henry threw in the towel at lunch and, after we packed up the van, we headed towards Coober Pedy stopping along the way to give water to those riding on and collecting those wise enough to stop as the temperature soared.
There were interesting sights and signs en route to our planned stop for two nights, Riba's. These included the Pyramids of Coober Pedy and the dog fence!
On arrival at Riba's we realised that it completely isolated with no food or drink or amenities other than a small toilet block. On the plus side, camping was underground. There was no way we could survive here for two nights and Henry made a quick decision to head into town to find a new location. In the meantime, we had snacks and watermelon and enjoyed the "cool" underground atmosphere!
Bob had been there for hours and set up his tent in the "best" spot. I don't think he was too disappointed to pack up and move to the Stuart Range Outback Resort where, apart from camping, John and I managed to secure a quite lovely suite for two nights! My bike and bags, although temporarily abandoned at Riba's were promptly delivered to our new accommodation
After doing the laundry in our own suite, I shared a pizza with John at the restaurant here and then retired for the night in air conditioned comfort! Happy days..
